"Iceland's ice caves are truly a wonder to behold. As a photographer, they offer such a unique composition that is hard to emulate in any other natural environment.”

Here are @jordlg’s tips for shooting Iceland’s famous ice caves:

"1. Use a wide angle lens. Some of the caves can be quite compact so a wide-angle lens is essential. The images I took were captured with the 16-35mm F2.8 Sony GM, lent to me by @mpbcom.

2. Use the ground and walls as the foreground. By doing this, you can capture the amazing textures that fill the caves. The whole environment is filled with these wavy blue lines. Capturing them in the foreground can give your images a really distinct look.

3. Shoot at a low F Stop. The caves can get extremely dark in places. And given that you can only go on guided tours, you don't really have time to set a tripod up. Because of this, it is crucial that you shoot on a low aperture to capture as much of that detail in the shadows as possible. I would also highly recommend shooting in RAW and keeping your shutter speed as low as you are comfortable with when taking handheld shots (you may want to hold your breath). All of the shots you see above were taken at F2.8."
