Make that 3 summers in a row 😳I think I’ve spent countless summers thinking about a “guy.” Not in a dreamy, rom-com way, but in the way of carrying around unrealistic expectations of the people I chose to love.

And here’s the thing: I’ve known this about myself for a long time, but the truth hit me differently these last few years. This summer especially.

We always say, you can’t help who you love… but is that true? Because if what I want is stability, but who I “can’t help” doesn’t match that, then how am I ever going to move closer to the life I want? Either I adjust my desires, or I take accountability for my patterns and shift the things I claim I “can’t help.” That’s the hard work.

So yes, you see me smiling, floating in the ocean. What you don’t see are the tears shed before and after. What you don’t hear are the words I whisper to myself in the water: I am valuable. I am enough. I am loved by myself. I don’t need anyone else to validate me.

This summer has been both a blessing and a weight. But the weight is shaping me. It’s teaching me that self-love isn’t about ignoring the hard truths; it’s about facing them, and choosing again and again to grow.
