Meet Tech. Sgt. Jermey Vickers - the innovative mind behind the game-changing Engine Pod Stand! 🛠️✈️

When faced with outdated and cumbersome maintenance stands, Vickers took matters into his own hands and designed a platform that revolutionized the way B-52 maintenance is done at teambarksdale. 🙌

With the Engine Pod Stand, multiple maintainers can work on the jet simultaneously, saving time and increasing safety. Unlike the old stands, the Engine Pod Stand is one large platform that allows maintainers to easily access the jet’s engines and wings - eliminating the need to move smaller stands.

After years of hard work and persistence, Vickers got the funding needed to bring his creation to life - and the results speak for themselves. With the old stands, it took over an hour to get ready to work on an engine. Now, maintainers are ready to go within minutes. 

“I drew up the first blueprints six years ago and researched several companies that could make them,” said Vickers. 

He began talks with one company, but the COVID-19 pandemic put a pause on the business’s production. Then, funding challenges presented another roadblock. Vickers persisted, and with the help of the 307thbw Safety Office and the usafreserve, he was able to secure additional funding through the National Guard and Reserve Equipment Appropriations funding. 

Thanks to Vickers’ innovation, engine-top inspections are now done in half the time, making life easier for the dedicated maintainers at Barksdale AFB. 👏
