Under the usairforce's new deployment cycle, AFFORGEN, Airmen will train, deploy, and recover as cohesive warfighting units throughout a two-year readiness cycle.

✈ Prepare

✈ Certify

✈ Available To Commit

✈ Reset

AFFORGEN establishes a 24-month rotational cycle broken into four, six-month phases: Prepare, Certify, Available To Commit, and Reset. Airmen and units build readiness through the Prepare and Certify phases, deploy during the Available To Commit phase, and reintegrate and reconstitute during the Reset phase.

AFFORGEN will continue to evolve as Airmen deploy and provide lessons learned to their units.

How is Air Force Force Generation different from the Air Expeditionary Force construct?

Individual Airmen can be tasked for a deployment under the traditional Air Expeditionary Force deployment model. Under Air Force Force Generation, the AFFORGEN force elements are built using authorized positions, not specific Airmen.
