The family of #AngieStone has filed a lawsuit seeking damages against the trucking company, the truck manufacturer, and others following a fatal accident that led to her passing.

According to a lawsuit filed on Tuesday, the driver allegedly lost control of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van seating Stone, her bandmates, and her entourage inside. When the driver tried to steer it back onto the highway, it flipped over, with Stone ultimately passing away from the accident.

The suit stated that Stone and the other passengers in the van survived the initial accident. Passersby stopped to help five of the nine people aboard crawl out of the vehicle. However, while Stone was still trying to escape, she suffered the impact of an 18-wheeler that crashed into the van. The impact reportedly ejected Stone and left her underneath the van, where she ultimately died. The lawsuit alleges that the truck’s collision avoidance system was defective and failed to recognize the stationary van in one lane of the interstate. It also claims that the truck driver was listening to music through headphones, was inattentive, and did not brake before colliding with the van at nearly 70 mph.
