Today we’re reflecting on 2023 with @kellyu & she is sunshine in human form☀️💛

“Contrary to popular belief, my last name isn’t “Yu” - it’s “Uchima,” a nod to my Japanese heritage from my dad, while my Chinese roots come from my mom. 😄

This reel is one of my favorite pieces of content from this year. Opening up about my complex relationship with my mom and dad has been a transformative experience. I used to feel like my family was the odd one out, inspiring me to share my story online. My aim is to normalize the challenges of cultivating healthy family dynamics.

A highlight of 2023 was winning the Influence Awards Health and Wellness Influencer of the Year. I embarked on my Instagram and YouTube journey while battling an eating disorder. Sharing my mental health journey has proven to be a powerful tool, and today, I’m three years sober, embracing self-love, and dedicated to supporting others in their struggles with IBS constipation.

My dream collaboration for 2024? I’d love to work with Reese Witherspoon’s media company, @hellosunshine , again. Speaking at the Shine Away women’s empowerment summit, hosted by Reese, was an incredible honor. Through the “Self-Image: An Intimate Conversation” panel, I delved into how to build a healthy self-image and the value of breaking generational cycles within families.”
