Abortions rights activists demonstrated at The Alamo in San Antonio on Sunday, Dec. 15, waving ‘Come and Take It’ flags in reference to the state’s recent challenges to abortion medication access.

In front of the historic museum, the group unfurled a reimagined ‘Come and Take It’ flag, replacing the traditional cannon with abortion pills. They also waved Texas state flags reading ‘Remember You Always Have Options.’

The protesters also distributed information on how to safely access a medication abortion and highlighted the website YouAlwaysHaveOptions.com, a website with resources to access safe abortion services anywhere in the U.S.

The action came days after state Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against a New York doctor who prescribed abortion medication to a patient in Texas.

‘The lawsuit filed by Ken Paxton is a stark reminder of how far Texas is willing to go to enforce its anti-abortion agenda,’ said Amelia Bonow, director of national advocacy group Shout Your Abortion, in a news release. ‘By gathering at the Alamo, we’re shining a light on the state’s hypocrisy and sending a message of defiance: no law, no lawsuit, and no politician can stop abortion access.’
