⚡️URGENT INFO! ⚡️When most people think of abortion providers, they think of Planned Parenthood. Sneezing? Grab a Kleenex. Need an abortion? Call Planned Parenthood. But 3 in 5 abortions in the USA actually happen at independent abortion clinics–small, community health providers all over the country. Think indie bookstores/record stores/mom & pop shops, but abortion. Most Planned Parenthoods only offer medication abortion, which is prescribed up to 10-11 weeks. People who need care after that will very likely see an indie provider. Huge portions of the US rely entirely on indies, and that becomes increasingly true the further you get into pregnancy. Without Indies, abortion after the first trimester would basically be impossible to access. Indies lack the visibility of PP, and most of them don’t have fundraising or communications departments. Indie clinics have been hit hardest by COVID. Abortion Care Network (abortioncarenetwork ), a national organization that serves and represents indie clinics, took a survey in which 90% of clinics reported they were at risk of closing. Planned Parenthood is absolutely necessary. But so are indie clinics. Only one of the two is on the verge of collapse. Abortion Care Network set up a centralized emergency fundraiser to get money to clinics all over the country: KeepOurClinics.org.
