There's a moon on this clock. Can you find it?

While most timepieces hide their mechanics, skeleton clocks celebrate the beauty of the mechanical pieces and the ingenuity of the craftsperson. Skeleton clocks are timepieces that expose their inner workings. People who owned these clocks appreciated the beauty of the mechanics as much as the attractiveness of the case.

It's no coincidence that skeleton clocks and clocks with multiple dials were fashionable at the end of the 1700s, an era of scientific discovery and great interest in science and technology.

This clock has four dials that display different information. The largest dial tells the time while the two dials below it indicate the day of the week and day of the month. Above, a fourth dial displays the current phase of the moon.
