Getty is granting $1.3 million to support the conservation of the Wupatki National Monument in Arizona.

According to Kevin Cooeyate, program manager of the Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps Zuni, "A site becomes much more than a project. It is in fact an opportunity to carry on and understand what our ancestors left behind. That is how I believe we are leading our Nations back to ecological and cultural well-being."

This sacred site for Northern Arizona Native American communities holds a precious record of migration, trade, and other practices dating back 900 years.
