Peek into King Tut's Tomb.

Discovered in 1922 by archaeologist Howard Carter, the Tomb of King Tutankhamen in Egypt has always had buzz surrounding it. At one point, the tomb was visited by up to 4,000 tourists a day, and for a space that is no bigger than a small apartment, that did some damage.

By the 2000s, the tomb needed some attention. Damage from tourism and dust left a gray film on all the tomb's surfaces.

Getty worked with Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities for 10 years to analyze the causes of deterioration of the wall paintings and create new interior walkways, barriers, and a viewing platform to more safely control visitor access.
