If you’re looking for the least sexy yet totally practical resolution, here it is: 
✨ I will clean my humidifier regularly this year ✨ 

If you need to brush up on your routine before Jan. 1, here’s how to keep your humi running clean. Aim to do this weekly. 
✔️ Turn off the humidifier and unplug it. 

FOR THE TANK:
✔️ Fill the tank with a mix of one cup water and one cup white vinegar or bleach, screw the cap back on, and let it sit for about 20 minutes. 
✔️ With the cap still on, give the tank a really solid shake. A little hack that can help with the hard-to-reach places: Stuff a couple of paper towels into the tank to help scrub the walls while you shake. 
✔️ Rinse the tank thoroughly and set it to dry. 

FOR THE BASE:
✔️ Do not submerge the base in water. Instead, fill it with white vinegar and let it sit for 20 minutes. 
✔️ Pour out the vinegar and gently scrub any remaining residue with a soft bristle brush or towel. 
✔️ Make sure not to scrub the transducer. 
✔️ If there is a leftover smell from your cleaning solution, rinse thoroughly using 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide + 1 cup of water. 

FOR EVERYTHING ELSE:
✔️ Gently spot clean the mist cap. 
✔️ Make sure everything dries fully before putting it back together, especially if you’re going to be storing it.

GENERAL TIPS:
✔️ Distilled or filtered water is best when running your humidifier.
✔️ Don’t let water sit in the base of your humidifier or in the tank when it’s not in use.
