We don’t just develop probiotics for humans 🤔 

Our ecological R+D division, #SeedLabs, partners with leading microbiologists around the globe to develop new applications of bacteria to enhance biodiversity and recover ecosystems impacted by human activity.

Humans are microcosms of the Earth’s ecology and our health is inextricably linked to the health of our fellow Earthlings (both human and non-human) 🌎

Our first SeedLabs research initiative focuses on honey bees 🐝 

As one of our most vital pollinators, honey bees are responsible for nearly a third of global food crops.¹ Yet pesticide use, along with climate change, disease, and habitat loss, have contributed to a stark reduction in bee populations over the past decade.²

So, we collaborated to develop a probiotic. 🤓

Our Chief Scientist, Dr. Gregor Reid, and Seed Fellow, Brendan Daisley, developed the BioPatty™—a probiotic blend of Lactobacillus strains to enhance the honey bee immune response to pesticides and to resist infections in order to slow the decline of hive populations.³

Now we are diving deep into our second SeedLabs project. 
This next endeavor focuses on one of nature’s notable architects, a holobiont you can see from space 🚀 💫
