We consume more than our Earth makes.

The @globalfootprintnetwork has been assessing our consumption and marking the day we 'overshoot' each year, using 15,000 data points collected by the @unitednations across four main factors: how much we consume, how efficiently we make stuff, our population, and nature's productivity.

This year, that day is today, the earliest it's ever been. Even more terrifyingly, last year it was August 3rd. This means, every minute after today, we are depleting the Earth in a way that it cannot recover and it's only getting worse. To support human civilization as it stands right now, we need 1.75 Earths. By 2030, we'll need two.

If we consider the resources we have, from water to clean air to food, as an annual budget, our species has significantly overdrawn the planet's ability to regenerate. This debt can only be avoided for so long.

Like your one body, we only have one Earth. It's time to consider and act on choices that better serve both. ⠀
