LaDarius Butler, a Black father in Colorado, is suing the Aurora Police Department after he was tasered, handcuffed, and falsely charged with obstruction—despite breaking no law—when he sought another medical opinion for his 3-year-old child’s breathing issues. 

The charge was later dismissed, but Butler’s case highlights concerns about racially biased policing in a department already under a federal consent decree.
