Polar bears can see well underwater, spotting potential meals up to 15 feet away. They have a nictitating membrane, or third eyelid, that allows them to see underwater & protects their eyes in blowing snow. Our girl Tatqiq wears an accelerometer collar to help researchers understand behavior, movement & energy demands of polar bears in the wild. #PolarBearWeek #EndExtinction
