“16 years ago I gave birth to my eldest child at the age of 23 and became "Tom's Mum". From this moment I spent a decade slowly losing myself through a paradigm based around sacrificing for my children. At rock bottom I started the long road to finding a better way, my goal being to find a way I could thrive with my children. What I learnt was that it wasn't a journey about learning how to be a mother, it was an adventure in learning who I was and my enhanced ability to empower myself. In the following pages I provide you with simple exercises to support you in this second Rite of Passage in a woman’s life. The old paradigm of Motherhood focused on what you lost, what you sacrificed and believed your wants and needs were secondary to the wants and needs of the children now in your care. The new paradigm that comes to you through me for Motherhood places you firmly in the centre of your own life. It considers the birth of your children to also be the rebirth of you. It sees your role to be the ruler of your world, not the slave in others. It believes that you do not need to sacrifice or compromise your dreams for your life, instead that you are now empowered to enhance them. Mother, you matter. More than you know.”
