•Reflection on ##surfing? Being born inland Canada, we can assume this wasn’t really meant to be...it has definitely changed my whole storyline.

•Kelly Slater once said: “Surfing is like the mafia; once you are in it, you can’t get out.”• It changes the way you travel. The way you work your schedule around the tides. The kind of forecast you look at. The place you choose to live.  And teaches you a gangmember type of jargon 😛🌴. #GetPitted

•But moreover surfing teaches you to stay calm in the face of adversity• When a big ass set arises in front of you and you think “Oooh fuck...!”, well Suzan, there is no escape. You take a big breath and paddle as fast as you can TOWARDS it...
.
How many times have I been smashed and tossed under water like a ragdoll so bad I felt like even my soul was bending.... “Fucking hell, this really isn’t for the weak” i think and wonder why am I even doing this to myself. The average adult stopped getting physically hurt on a daily basis when he was about 9 years old.
.
Now, when the time comes to catch a wave, there is really no other way than to FULLY COMMIT. You have to go all-in, risk everything, every single time. You cannot just ‘kinda want to learn surfing’ or ‘kinda want this wave’. No. You ride the bull or the bull rides you over. 💥
.
Courage, Calm & Commitment are the 3 main things I’m taking from surfing into my ‘on-land life’.

•What’s the catch?• Only one well-ridden wave and you are hooked! Your heart skips a beat, or 5. You’re gliding, flying, dancing all at once !!! The high & the pride is indescribable.
.
I’m humbled by what Mama ocean has taught me, and i’m constantly thirtsy for more.
Surfing is the most addictive & beautiful thing I have ever experienced, and just like any drug, we’ll always need a bigger / more powerful dose to get our fix.💦
