[Video transcript: Sound on to enjoy Sounds of the Sky

We’re going birdwatching... with our ears

Today we’re listening out for the Song Thrush

It’s small brown bird

Around the size of a large apple or a small grapefruit

With a distinctive speckled breast of warm browns on white

These earthy shades help it camouflage amongst the leaves.

Can you hear that?

Do you hear how each phrase is repeated twice before moving on to the next one?

This repetition is a key feature of its melodious singing pattern.

The Song Thrush has a remarkable ability to mimic other birds

So, you may hear elements of other birdsong effortlessly woven into its melody.]
