The results of the first national turtle dove survey are sobering, but there is hope.

Action is already underway to make a difference for turtle doves ➡️ Operation Turtle Dove is a partnership project driving restoration and creation of turtle dove breeding habitat, and science, species action planning, and international policy work helped lead to a hunting ban along parts of the western flyway in 2021.

With the right conservation action, we can turn things around for turtle doves in the UK.

The 2021 National Turtle Dove Survey was a partnership project coordinated by the RSPB, Rare Breeding Birds Panel and Kent Ornithological Society, with support from British Trust for Ornithology (BTO). The survey was funded as part of ‘Action for Birds in England’, a conservation partnership between Natural England and the RSPB.
