🧪 also known as 'viviparous' lizards
🧱 most frequently seen on commons, heaths, moorland, dry stone walls and embankments
☘️ the only species of reptile native to Ireland
📏 roughly 15cm from nose to tail
🌈 generally brown, but variants aren't uncommon - they can range from green to yellow to black!
🥚 they incubate their eggs internally, then 'give birth' to live young!
🕷️ mostly eat spiders and insects
🚫 if threatened, a common lizard may drop off its still-moving tail to distract a predator while they make a run for it!
