Dominican film producer and businesswoman Emelyn Stuart founded Stuart Cinema & Cafe in 2018 after she kept running into obstacles from major distributors who felt her projects weren’t good enough. Despite a massive learning curve and financial difficulties initially, the 50-seat movie theater shows movies, including her own films,  in English and Spanish and offers unique treats including tres leches cake and homemade empanadas.
