Women deserve to live without violence. On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we’re recognizing the women throughout LATAM affected by gender-based violence.

In 2022, the highest rates of femicide were in Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and El Salvador and Uruguay. In 2023, 11 of the 18 Latin American countries that reported data on femicide had rates higher than 1 victim per 100,000 women. In 2022, an estimated 4,050 Women were victims of femicide in LATAM and the Caribbean.
