Actress Yalitza Apracio (yalitzaapariciomtz), who is Mixtec and Triqui, was born in Oaxaca, Mexico and rose to fame through her debut role in the film “Roma”. She went on to become the first  Indigenous American woman to receive a Best Actress Oscar nomination. She previously spoke with IndieWire about the significance of the nomination for the Indigenous community.
