What it is:
ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) allows children with a really sick heart or lungs the chance to completely rest those organs.

What it does:
ECMO is done in 4 steps:
1. Takes the blood outside of the body
2. Adds oxygen
3. Gets rid of carbon dioxide
4. Returns the blood to the patient

⭐️ Fun-Fact: Dozens of patients are supported by ECMO each year.
