This month, the storied Eastern Women’s Baseball Conference hosted the 19th edition of the Diamond Classic, the country’s longest-running women’s baseball tournament. Over the years, the tournament has expanded its reach, welcoming Women’s National Team legends and current members of the team, as well as college baseball players, Varsity high school baseball players, and more.

In addition to the returning champs, the New England Red Sox, new teams made their debut this year, including @perfectcatchhwbsbl , a girls’ baseball team from Chicago. This team is mostly comprised of high school-aged girls in baseball. “We brought this team together to create path in baseball beyond travel and HS for women in our region,” said a recent Instagram story from @ilgirlsbaseball. “Community, development, mentorship and access are our pillars. Proud of all of you for continuing to show up and now we have a name in the women’s world of baseball.”
