the_bovino showed strong form at marylandcyclingclassic, never giving up after fighting back after multiple punctures to finish in 8th place. G crossed the line 38 seconds behind the lead group after a brutal day in the saddle at the one-day race, which was hit by torrential rain mid-race. 

“It was a really hard race today,” said G. “The pace was aggressive right from the start, and with the rain and the rough pavement I ended up with three punctures in the last two laps. Each time I had to fight back, so by the time we hit the climb I was always on my limit, just trying to recover from the chase. In the end, I didn’t quite have the punch on the final climb, I hovered about 10 to 15 seconds behind until the last couple of kilometers, so the result is a bit disappointing. 

“But at the same time, I can take some encouragement from the performance, especially after a good training block at home. Now I’m looking forward to the next two hometown races in Québec and Montréal.”
