How it Ended on Febrary 29, 2020. How It Starts Again on August 10, 2021. A play on the how it started, how it's going meme. Music choice: Circle of Life because I am not subtle. 18 months between these photos, and much is the same and so much is different. Like much of life, college soccer is a constant cycle of slow change with occasional big changes. Being back on the Sports Deck felt like I'd just been there, and also like it was from a long ago part of my life. The Sports Deck is like places in the rest of our lives, it has meaning because of the people who are there with us. In the past 18 months, people with direct and indirect connections to this place died, and others brought new life into our world. During those 18 months, many people moved on to new opportunities, others arrived to start new adventures, and some stayed the whole time to continue working towards their own goals and facilitating those of others. Everything is old, and new, and the same, all at once, just like in the rest of our lives. We don't have to live the next 18 months like we did the past 18 months, but that's only possible if we all do our part. Get vaccinated if you haven't already, and wear a mask, without whining, in all the places where you know you should. #twitter #SunsetOnTheSportsDeck
