Every now and then, I get comments like “That’s an easy trick” or “zero talent, this is just a gimmick.” 🙄

I usually let the trolls roll off my back, but today I wanted to take a moment to share a little behind-the-scenes about what actually goes into my pyrotechnic stunts.. The flashy lights look fun.. but they are dangerous!

Pyrotechnic performing isn’t something you can just pick up and try one day. Before I ever touched a pyro prop, I spent over 8 years spinning fire, training circus arts and building my awareness, reaction time, and muscle memory. When you’re dealing with literal explosives, there’s zero room for error!

Here’s a little insight into what goes on behind the scenes:

1️⃣ I partner with professional pyrotechnic companies all over the world to make sure every stunt is done safely and legally. That means a full team on site, fire marshals present, and a ton of planning before I ever step on stage.

2️⃣ Each stunt requires testing the prop first, then immediately performing the trick.. usually with only one rehearsal. This means I have to be completely confident and proficient in my skillset so nothing goes wrong on the big stage when it counts.

3️⃣ And here’s a piece of advice I was given early in my career that stuck with me: “It’s not about doing the hardest trick you know on stage. It’s about stylizing the tricks you’re confident in and performing them consistently without error.”
So no, you’ll probably never see me spinning seven pyro hula hoops at once.. that’s just not safe. One fiery hoop done well can steal the entire show! 🙌

At the end of the day, it’s not about the trolls or proving anything to them. It’s about pushing my art forward, safely challenging myself, and sharing moments with all of you.
