"The process of building this book was a lot like trying to make the ultimate girl dinner out of several unrelated snacks. I have OCD and it occasionally tries to ruin my life. I wanted to write about what those brief periods of insanity are like. I also wanted to write a survival story about a group of people getting lost in the woods. I wanted to write about being gay. I wanted to write about human decomposition. I wanted to write about cannibalism. I wanted to write about the opera. And I wanted to do it all in one book. It took a lot of staring at a wall in the middle of the night to figure it out, but I eventually came up with this. I hope you enjoy it."
