There are sonkers, and then there are “lazy” sonkers, in which the fruit is topped with a batter that bakes into a crisp layer of cake. The stewed strawberries gave the batter a sturdy surface on which to bake, and the hot filling baked the batter from underneath. Recipe link in our profile. ⁣
