"I made a promise to Sparkle 10 years ago when I rescued her from the euthanasia list, that I’d always fight for her.

This year, I almost couldn’t keep that promise.

After getting laid off from my teaching job and bringing home a sweet senior rescue named Baxter, we were managing... until Sparkle was diagnosed with cancer.

Mast Cell Tumors. Surgery needed. Fast.
I sat in the vet's office doing math I never wanted to do and wondering what I could sacrifice to save her: Car payment? Rent? Utilities? Less groceries?

Then I found Live Like Roo.

I applied with hope, not expecting much… but they said yes. They covered Sparkle’s cancer treatment and gave us more than help.
They gave us hope, time, and a chance.

The day before her surgery, we took one of the most meaningful walks of our lives. Just me, Sparkle, and Baxter soaking in the sun and the gift of this moment.

Her surgery went beautifully. She’s home. Healing. Loved.

And I’m just so, so thankful.
