Being back here on 9/11 is strange. 🗽 

I was a sophomore in high school in Rahway, NJ on 9/11/01. From a few spots in town, you could see the city skyline. The attacks had a profound impact on our community, including friends of mine who had parents who actually worked in the towers.

For me, it actually inspired me to join my high school Marine Corps JROTC that month, which transformed my life entirely. It’s where I started to find out who I was, and it’s where I definitely found out what I was good at: speaking loudly. They selected me to be the drill team commander, and in my senior year I was ranked second in the country. 

People ask me about my journey to where I am now as a professional announcer who performs in front of millions of people in some of the most famous venues in the world. There have been a lot of steps in the journey to get here, but the truth is that my story truly begins on September 11, 2001. 

In 2 days, I return to the area where I grew up and witnessed that event and now I will be performing in one of the most iconic venues in New York and the world: Yankee Stadium. I consider it a genuine honor.

But first: today is a today to reflect on that fateful day that affected so many of us in so many ways.
