It’s Pawpaw season around here! 💚🍐🍌When ironcitybloomery sent me these gorgeous dried flower cloches (as part of my support small initiative) I immediately thought cake… because that adorable little one needed a pedestal of perfection to sit upon. Then a neighbor and a friend brought me fresh pawpaws. It was a sign! A deliciously moist fruit filled cake was in order! I’m sorry there’s no cut image, but this beauty was gifted whole to a friend. Don’t worry… I kept the cloches. You’d have to pry those out of my hands. 
Pawpaws are rich in B-6, vitamin C, niacin, riboflavin, thiamine, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron & folate. Pawpaws are the largest edible fruit trees native to our area. They are a beautiful velvety green that marks black as it begins to ripen - much like that of a banana peel. The taste is somewhere between a very aromatic banana and a mango. A haunting flavor that leaves you wanting more. It’s texture is creamy and light like custard. They are also known as custard apples! There are large glossy black seeds throughout the center of the fruit.
