The true “Godzilla” is the Nissan GT-R R32, a monster that redefined motorsport in the late ’80s and early ’90s.

It debuted in 1989 with the RB26DETT twin-turbo inline-six and ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system.

The car dominated Group A touring car racing, humiliating rivals in Japan and Australia.

Australian media dubbed it “Godzilla” after it crushed V8s at the Bathurst 1000.

It won multiple titles, including three straight Group A championships in Japan from 1990 to 1993.

The R32’s legend established the GT-R name as a global icon, and every GT-R since has carried the Godzilla legacy.
