Forty years ago, countries came together to stop the destruction of the ozone layer. That global commitment led to the Montreal Protocol, one of the most successful environmental agreements in history, which phased out nearly all ozone-depleting substances

As a result, the ozone layer began to heal — an inspirational example of how the international community can unite to tackle global challenges.

It demonstrates that through joint #ClimateAction, we can win the race against the climate crisis - for people, for climate and for the planet.

“Every fraction of a degree matters. Every action counts,” stressed #UnitedNations Secretary-General antonioguterres on Tuesday’s #OzoneDay.

“Let’s recommit to preserving our ozone layer and to protecting people and planet for generations to come."

From driving less 🚲 and buying local products 🍎 to avoiding harmful cleaning products 🧼, each of us can take action to help protect the ozone layer.
