## Caption

Springfield, MO - 9/14/2025 - Missouri State welcomed Southern Methodist University (SMU) to Robert W Plaster Stadium Saturday in front of 15,027 fans. Missouri State would hold their own for most of the game but would ultimately fall 28-10 to SMU. 

The 1st quarter was all about capitalizing on turnovers for Missouri State. Thanks to an interception by J. J. O’Neal Missouri State would put up 3 on a field goal. Missouri State led by Quarterback Jacob Clark would get a touchdown following a missed field goal by SMU. The quarter would end with Missouri State leading 10-0. 

Missouri State’s defense would hold SMU scoreless till just over halfway through the 2nd quarter. SMU would get rushing touchdowns by Dramekco Green and TJ Harden to go into halftime up 14-10. 

Missouri State had a chance to go up on their first drive in the 3rd quarter driving to the SMU 6 yard line before an untimely interception halted the drive. TJ Harden would add his 2nd rushing touchdown for SMU giving them a 21-10 lead heading into the 4th quarter. 

SMU’s defense in the 4th quarter would hold Missouri State’s offense to their end of the field the whole quarter. Kevin Jennings would get a touchdown pass to RJ Maryland to seal the victory at 28-10. 

Opinion: This game was much closer than the final score would lead you to believe. Some missed opportunities and key penalties held Missouri State back a bit. SMU also racked up 12 penalties for 130 yards. With Missouri State being a 27.5 point underdog and only losing by 18 that’s a solid performance.
