☕️🥖Tea, a drink with jam and (homemade) bread… straight out of The SoundofMusic! 🍞🍓🎶 

For RodgersandHammerstein’s The Sound of Music Sing-A-long at the Hollywood Bowl on September 20 (our favorite tradition every year), I baked bread from scratch—just yeast, water, sugar, flour—with a little twist: edible flowers on top. 🌸

This year feels extra magical because we’re celebrating the 60th anniversary of the movie! A few fun facts to make your heart sing:

The Sound Of Music premiered in 1965 and won 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture 🏆

The year after its release it became the highest-grossing film of all time, and held that record for five years 🎬

“Edelweiss” was the last song ever written by Rodgers & Hammerstein (and nope, it’s not actually an Austrian folk song!) 🌼

A brand-new 4K remaster is being released this month to celebrate its anniversary – and the version playing at the Bowl will be in 4K as well! 🍿

The music remains timeless—“Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favorite Things” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” still give chills 60 years later. 🎵

And let’s not forget—Melissa Peterman’s annual pre-show costume contest is everything. The laughs, the wild costumes, the energy—it always sets the stage perfectly before the Bowl turns into one giant chorus full of cheers and boos, depending on who is on the screen. 🎭✨

Every year, when “Edelweiss” fills the air, I end up in tears under the stars. 🌙 Truly one of the most magical nights of the year. You have to go to really experience it.
