## Caption

This 9/17, allow us to shine a light on the Penske-sponsored 1000hp track monster piloted by George Follmer known as the L&M 917/10. 

Founded in 1873, L&M was first known mixing Turkish and Virginia tobaccos, and later for supporting the Porsches of both Folmer and Donohue. Among their slogans were these gems, “No cigarette ever went so far so fast!” and the slightly less credible, “Just what the doctor ordered!”. L&M was a fixture in Durham’s industrial landscape for generations and still exists as the Liggett Group just outside city limits today.
