What was meant to be a quick detour on his motorbike journey from Thailand to the UK ended up becoming something much bigger. British YouTuber WeHateTheCold (Harry) unexpectedly found himself in the middle of Nepal’s largest youth-led protests in years—and captured some of the most raw, unfiltered footage of the unrest.⁠

Since September 8, Nepal has seen waves of protests triggered by alleged government corruption and a short-lived social media ban. The fallout was massive: Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli resigned, parliament was dissolved, former chief justice Sushila Karki was appointed interim PM, and new elections are set for March 5. At least 51 people have died, and several government buildings have been set on fire.⁠

Harry’s video shows burnt-out vehicles, tense standoffs outside Kathmandu’s parliament complex, and the intensity of a nation in political crisis. And while he never planned to be there long, people in Nepal sure noticed.⁠

Several people have since stopped him to take selfies. His videos have gone viral across the country, with X users claiming he’s become a local celebrity due to his fearless, firsthand documentation.⁠
