Bookends. I like to think of life as sections broken up by bookends.

At the beginning of the summer, I was at a low after several frustrating and negative experiences. I was sick of other people deciding my fate.

Camp started. Camp is exhausting. Camp consumes all life over the summer. Camp got a trapeze. I posted about how I passed the trapeze every day looking at it as a metaphor for achieving my goals. Seeing it as a reminder that if I put my mind towards something, I can do it. 

I was desperate to try the trapeze again but didn’t know if I could swing it (pun intended). The summer slipped away, I begged. It happened. My legs went up. I soared. Again. I did it.

BUT WAIT! There’s more to the metaphor.

A month ago - to the date - August 2nd, we visited old friends. An idea sparked in my head and everything immediately felt right... if I could move mountains and make it work.

Everything had to fall into place and it had to happen quickly.

AND IT JUST DID!

I’m so excited to announce that on Monday I’ll be starting a full-time, fully funded Master’s of Social Work program! I am so grateful to be a new fellow and to everyone who helped me get here at lightning speed.

When one is at a low point, it’s hard to believe things happen for a reason. But I tried to ride this wave with hope. What started as a sad, angry, upset bookend just ended as an extremely happy, grateful, and excited one. 

I’m hopeful the chapter of having no control is closed and full control is open.
