stetsonu's Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center is surrounded by native habitat and a hotspot for birdwatching. The Aquatic Center’s large glass windows offer stunning views of Lake Beresford but posed visibility challenges for birds, leading to documented strikes during migration. To address the issue, Stetson’s Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience (IWER) partnered with West Volusia Audubon Society to secure funding for bird-safe markers. In 2024, Feather Friendly markers were installed on part of the Lakeview Room, turning a high-risk glass area into a demonstration site for bird-friendly design.
