## Caption

When Peru’s government classified gender identity as a mental illness in May 2024, it fueled stigma and increasing gender-based violence. But our movement partners—Diversidades Trans Masculinas, Moshikas Diversas, and Organización Trans Brenda Alayo—refused to stay silent. 

Together, they led a historic mobilization of over 60 LGBTQI+ and intersectional organizations, rallying hundreds of protesters across Peru. Thanks to their relentless collective efforts, Peru repealed the law just two months later. 

During this #16DaysofActivism, we are proud to highlight the work of our movement partners in Peru & beyond who are working for a world free from gender-based violence.
