Today is #InternationalRedPandaDay! 🦊

Your Toronto Zoo is proud to stand alongside conservation partners worldwide in protecting the endangered Red Panda, while inspiring our guests and members to learn more about this iconic species from the Eastern Himalayas and Southwestern China.

With fewer than 10,000 remaining in the wild, Red Pandas face serious threats from habitat loss, poaching, the illegal pet trade, and disease — challenges largely driven by human activity. Because of this, they are officially listed as Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

At your Toronto Zoo, we take part in the Species Survival Plan (SSP), a global program that safeguards animals at risk of extinction by managing breeding, genetics, and long-term population sustainability. This important work helps protect the future of Red Pandas like Kalden and Poppy, our beloved residents 🦊
