Lilith Fair’s first year! For those of you that don’t know, officialsarahmclachlan founded an all woman’s tour and it was a very bold move at the height of grunge. Promoters and radio refused to put women back to back on stage or on the airwaves. And the result was powerful- sold out shows and the best culture in a crowd ever. 

At this point I had only done tiny coffee shops solo acoustic - but my career began to break around this time and I needed to get used to singing for bigger crowds. But I was so uncomfortable with a band (that’s a learned skill I had not mastered) and so often did my sets largely solo acoustic in front of these large crowds, with my poor band waiting in the wings. 
Learning to be solo in front of huge crowds is very challenging and dynamic- but also very fun.
