Victoria Police was strongly represented at the Australasian Council of Women and Policing Excellence acwap_ in Policing Awards held in Melbourne this week.⁣

The awards are an acknowledgement of the achievements of individuals who are working to improve policing and law enforcement while ensuring service are enhanced for women in our communities.⁣

Ela Tankir was awarded The Emerging Leadership Award for her work in driving cultural change by addressing racism and promoting inclusion as part of her role as President of the Victoria Police Muslim Association.⁣

Ela’s leadership extends beyond internal reform, fostering trust between Victoria Police and the Muslim community through outreach programs and events, such as the impactful Victoria Police Ramadan Iftar Event following the Christchurch Mosque shootings.⁣
