August is Spinal Muscular Atrophy Awareness Month! 

This month we raise awareness for SMA. Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a genetic disease that causes muscle weakness and wasting due to the degeneration of motor neurons in the spinal cord. 

It's caused by a mutation in the SM1 gene.
