Violence erupted in Manila, the Philippines  on September 21 during several mass rallies against corruption, after protesters were barred by police from marching to the presidential palace.⁣

Protesters threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at anti-riot police, while security forces used flash bangs and water cannons to disperse the demonstrators.⁣
⁣
Dozens of protesters wore masks and carried a flag from the Japanese manga series "One Piece", reminiscent of the symbol used during recent violent protests in Indonesia.⁣
⁣
The Philippine National Police has reported dozens of injuries, mostly from cuts and bruises, and said it has arrested 17 protesters involved in the clash. ⁣
