Nika & Madison, the powerful debut feature from Indigenous filmmaker Eva Thomas (msevathomas) of Walpole Island First Nation, made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (#TIFF2025) to an incredible audience reaction. 👏

The film confronts systemic racism and police violence rooted in the horrifying history of Starlight Tours — a practice where Canadian police abandoned First Nations people outside city limits in freezing conditions, often leading to injury or death. ❄️ 

At its heart, the film explores the complex and crackling relationship between cousins Nika (ellynjade) and Madison (littledragxn) — who find moments of joy even while on the run from law enforcement. 🥹❤️‍🩹
