I didn’t grow up deeply connected to church. My family would go now and then, but it was never something consistent or central in our lives. It wasn’t until college that I started to feel a personal pull toward faith. While I was at the University of Iowa, I joined Kairos and began attending Sunday services at the Hope Local Site in Iowa City. That’s really where my curiosity about God began.

After graduation, I moved back to Des Moines and found REVIVE. In 2023, I went on my first mission trip with REVIVE to Tijuana, Mexico. It was a major turning point in my faith journey.

That experience changed how I saw the world—and God. Since then, I’ve been on four more mission trips, and with each one, God continues to stretch me. I’ve had to step outside of my comfort zone, rely on him when I felt tired or unsure, and trust him in unfamiliar places. Every trip has taught me something different—about compassion, service, humility, and the kind of love that crosses all borders.

Missions have become one of the clearest ways God grows my faith. Each time, I leave with more than I could ever give. I come back with new perspective, deeper gratitude, and a stronger sense of purpose. I’ve learned that God’s church is alive everywhere, and we’re all part of something so much bigger than ourselves.
